On April 21 we celebrated Earth Day at the library branch with a special celebration for families that included an easy-to-make lava lamp using an empty water bottle, vegetable oil, food coloring and effervescent tablets.
Watch the video above to find out how to make this at home with simple supplies. It's a good example of "upcycling" or re-purposing an empty water bottle, and you can keep repeating the reaction indefinitely with more effervescent tablets!
