Summer Reading Challenge: Week 3

This past week, we had quite a few special visitors come and dazzle our audiences with adorable-ness and cute vibes! 

On Wednesday, June 21, Animal Services came to talk about caring for and interacting with cats and kittens along with bringing a pair of siblings up for adoption. Ms. Jessica also read a book to the kids about making the decision to adopt a new pet. The kids also got to make their own little cat toy with feathers, string and a popsicle stick and try these out with the kittens!

 

The next day, on Thursday, June 22, Elephant & Piggie from the beloved Mo Willems books came to pay a visit and interact with the kids while posing for photos after a couple of their stories were read aloud. They also got to make their own paper bag puppets to take home and enjoy. Stay tuned for more fun programs and visitors coming in July! 

              

Family Activities in July!

Join us in the coming month as we continue our special summer activities for children and families! The Summer Reading Club challenge is ongoing as well with a chance to earn prizes for reading up to 800 minutes or at least 200 by the end of July.

ZZ the Clown Visit!

Join us for a special visit from ZZ the Clown and Company next Wednesday, June 28 at 3 pm. It's also not too late to register for our Summer Reading Club Challenge to read at least 200 minutes before the end of July! 

Summer Reading Challenge: Week 2

This past week, our second full week of the Summer Reading Club Challenge, we had a special guest stop by for the Wednesday morning storytime on June 14 and teach kids how to be Water Smart. Willie the Waterdrop from EP Water was here to give kids a book that was read aloud to them by his assistant guest reader, and they got to make their own little hat. 

Additionally, in the afternoon of the same day some kids and family members gathered for our Friendship Banner activity to create some unique and creative art to display in our Meeting Room during the summer. They also got to work on a Kindness Sunflower craft to take home the same day. We have more special activities in store each Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm until the last week of July! A July schedule will be posted soon.

Adult Cake Decorating Class!

Our Cake Decorating Class for adults takes place each Friday afternoon from 1:30-3 pm! Interested students need to be able to provide their own supplies and will receive guidance from the staff instructor on how to make their own unique designs using certain tools.

Each week covers a different theme or concept, and so far here are some of the creations that the students have worked out!

Friendship Banner Activity!

Join us for a Friendship Banner Activity on Wednesday, June 14 at 3 pm for kids of all ages to celebrate our Summer Reading Club Challenge theme, All Together Now!

 

Some Highlights from Captain Magic's Visit!

 

Captain Magic paid us a visit last Wednesday, June 7, to kick off our special Summer Reading Club Challenge kid and family activities each Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm through the end of July.

He dazzled the crowd with an amazing magic show and invited the kiddos to participate with some fun and funny tricks!
